These are a few of my favorite things...
Happy Holidays! As 2012 comes to a close, I wanted to share with you a few of my favorite things...
Fourth on my 2012 favorite things list is Royal Apothic Eau De Parfum in Meyer Bloom from Anthropologie. It's a lovely light and fresh scent. Anthropologie says: Meyer Bloom: hyacinth, stephanotis and lily of the valley mingle with Meyer lemon and warm vanilla. Not only is it a wonderful scent, it's packaged beautifully. It comes with an atomizer ball in a gift box with a cute floral ribbon.

Happy Holidays! As 2012 comes to a close, I wanted to share with you a few of my favorite things...
Third on the 2012 favorite things list is Archipelagos's Elder & Olive Hand Balm. Archipelago says it is "a blend of natural essential oils and extracts including Pure Olive Oil, Orange Blossom, Tea Tree Oil, and Sage Leaf - all of which have the antibacterial, cleansing, or other effects." That's a pretty accurate description, but I would describe it as "super awesome-tastic." No slight on Archipelago, I just have a way with words. ... Anyway, I use it on my hands all the time. It's a great blend, not too greasy, absorbs well, and feels oh so good. Perfect for dry winter hands. You can buy it direct from Archipelago, or if you are local to DC you can pick it up at Home Rule on 14th Street NW.

Happy Holidays! As 2012 comes to a close, I wanted to share with you a few of my favorite things...
Second on the 2012 favorite things list: Balsam & Cedar by Illume. This scent is one of my favorites of all time. I'm a candle nut, so that's saying a lot. It is one of Illume's holiday scents, so I'm not sure you can get it after the holidays. I always stock up at Christmas time so I can burn it year round. Yes, it's a holiday scent, but for me it reads earthy not necessarily "Christmasy" and reminds me not only of winters but also summers at my Grandmother's home in northern Minnesota. I personally like the candles, but I have used both the room spray and the diffuser in years past and they are lovely as well. You can purchase online at Illume.com, but if you are local they sell them at Home Rule in DC. I've also found them at Crate & Barrel.

Eternal Sunshine Creations Knit Dress
My body type is a bit too much on the curvy side to be able to rock a knit dress like this with confidence. I'd have to belt it most certainly, which I figure would kind of ruin the cool knit detailing at the waist. Maybe not though, what do you think?

Happy Holidays! As 2012 comes to a close, I wanted to share with you a few of my favorite things. First on the 2012 favorite thing list: Almay Oil-Free Makeup Eraser Sticks. They are brilliant. Brilliant I say!! Perfect for your pocketbook, these babies have oil-free makeup remover inside the wand of a cotton swab.
They are simple and convienient, Almay says:
- Hold end with color ring up.
- Gently snap and allow remover to flow down filling the opposite tip.
- Smooth saturated cotton tip over makeup to gently lift it away.
I love love love (love love) these and very highly recommend them. They seem to be easy to come across, I've purchased them at both CVS (where I first discovered them) and Target. Right now they are buy 2 get 1 free on Ulta.com (Hello awesome deal! Stock up!!)

Life is a Maize Dress
For me autumn is all about layers. You can still wear your favorite summertime dresses, just pair them up with some knee high boots and thick socks to stockings to keep your legs warm and a nice big cardigan to wrap yourself up in should you catch a chill.

Nine West Bleaker Booties
I love Nine West Shoes. It's as if they took a mold of my long skinny foot and made shoes exactly for me. I'm never disappointed in the fit, comfort, or quality. Case in point, the Bleaker Booties I just got on sale at Macy's. I was a bit unsure how I would feel about them (I purchased online) because they are a little on the country side. Luckily, when I received them, not only did they fit like a custom made glove, they are the perfect balance of style. You could definitely wear them Texas two steppin, but if that's not the look you're going for, they will happily morph to your needs. They are the perfect addition to my 80's-mod-rocker style. So much so that I just bought them in grey as well. They are available on Nine West's website in black too, and I'm kind of tempted to go for the trifecta I like them so much.

Frankenstein Manicure
Happy Mani Monday and Happy Halloween!
This week I did a super fun frankenstein manicure. It requires a bit of a steady hand, but you don't have to be a pro since it's a silly sloppy monster. It was easier than I expected!
(this color stains your nails a bit, I recommend using a clear base coat
as well as a coat of white underneath to protect your nails.)

Pumpkin Costume
I love a good costume, but sometimes they can be expensive. Some years it's worth it to take a more ladylike spin on a costume so that the money you spend on the garments doesn't feel so bad because you can piece them out into your everyday wardrobe. I love that everything in this outfit is totally affordable and totally versatile. I actually did this same outfit last year with a dress I snagged in the sale section at H&M for only $7!! Total score!

Big Bird Costume
This year for halloween I wanted to be Big Bird and have Mr.Husband be Cookie Monster. Unfortunately with all the political hooplah going around this election season, it's just a no go. Too many people will also be dressing as the lovable bird and I don't want anyone to think it has anything to do with a political agenda. I just like Big Bird. But for the record, I'm with the bird. :)
